San Diego is a great tourist destination and has many hotel options. Little Italy is our area for your search options.
For a cool boutique hotel near the gallery we recommend the Porto Vista Hotel here in Little Italy. There are also great beach options: Ocean Beach, Mission Beach and Pacific Beach are within a short drive. We are located near downtown if you want a little urban experience.
No matter where you stay we can make your travel easier. Being close to the airport makes it easy if you need a pick up or drop off.

Direct sunlight will absolutely damage a fresh tattoo. It takes up to 2 months for your skin to fully regenerate. If you tan or burn your tattoo, the ink can scar and brown out in color.
We recommend a spf 45 and above sunblock. This can be applied after one month of healing. Until that time, you should keep it protected with clothing or protective sun sleeves.
As far as swimming goes we recommend no swimming for two weeks. Showers are definitely good and recommended but no baths. It's the prolonged soaking that can affect your ink.
